Photography has been my passion for more than 30 years. I spent years mastering my craft as a black and white analog photographer. The digital revolution came, but I wasn’t impressed with digital photography until I saw my first immersive 3D image. For the first time “more depth” literally meant more three dimensional depth, for the first time color images actually looked real to me. I’ve spent the last 10 years shooting with various VR cameras, trying to create meaningful VR images. The technical hurdles are significant, but I knew that practice would make perfect. I now have cameras I can rely on, and a software workflow that achieves excellent results.
I believe strongly in the practice of passing on what I learn to the person right behind me. I often ask “What would I wish I knew last week that would have made my progression faster?” That is the goal of my VR masterclass, to give other creatives the tools needed to create photographs for VR, AR and even the metaverse.
We’ll explore topics like stereo 360 panorama photography and videography, capturing 3d objects using photogrammetry, even capturing live action video on greenscreen stages. New technologies require new tools, but it’s not so often a truly new medium comes around! VR needs creatives to drive the technology and make compelling content.
